I love old converted farmhouses with a touch of luxury and this fits that billing. Charming and original and with knock out views – what’s not to love!
This chalet isn’t your average converted farmhouse – it has quirky touches – there’s a grand piano in the sitting area, the bedrooms are all book-themed and there’s a unique mezzanine level with no less than four double beds in separate cubicles. The bifold doors in the sitting room open up onto the balcony and there are spectacular views of Morzine and the Pleney and Nyon pistes. There’s a funky cinema room too on the chalet’s lower level. This chalet is catered to a high standard in the winter and there’s a 24 hour driver service included to take you to the slopes or out in the evenings.
There are four bedrooms, each individually designed with book themes. Two are doubles and two are doubles or twins.
The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway provides the inspiration for the first bedroom – there’s a sumptuous turquoise velvet bed plus a bespoke en-suite bathroom with glass taps and a shower integrated with lighting.
The second bedroom is named after The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. A grand, burgundy velvet bed has views out of the huge windows that open onto a balcony and there is a fabulous roll-top bath on its own mezzanine above the bedroom, which also takes in the view of the Pleney slopes and Point de Nyon. A further shower room completes this bedroom with double-wash hand basins plus a double shower.
The third bedroom, inspired by All Men are Mortal, has a true boutique hotel feel to it. It is open to a huge shower and dressing room, and sliding glass doors open onto a private balcony with stunning views across the valley.
Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak lends itself to the ornate fourth bedroom, which has a beautiful, large en-suite shower room.
There are four double beds on the mezzanine level with privacy curtains and the spa treatment room also has a hidden double bed, allowing this space to be used as another bedroom, if requested. This room has a shower and a sink in the room, plus a WC next door.
The occupancy rate of 12 is based on the four double rooms plus one person sleeping in each of the four double beds on the mezzanine level. An extra 6 people can be accommodated with 4 extra in the mezzanine doubles and 2 in the spa room but these are on request and at a supplement.
The chalet is fully catered so you have your own personal chef five days a week. Daily breakfast served seven days a week with fruit, yoghurts, muesli, cheese and meats plus a selection of pastries and a hot course, such as bacon, avocado and poached eggs served on toasted sourdough.A. fternoon tea with yummy cake is served seven days a week and pre-dinner canapes and a delicious four-course dinner is served five days a week together with complimentary Champagne, wine, spirits, beers and soft drinks.
The Old Macaroni has an outdoor hot tub, a glass barrel sauna plus a beautiful spa treatment room – treatments can be arranged (at extra cost)
Children are well catered for here – they will love the beds in the mezzanine room plus the cinema room. Early meals can be arranged together with high chairs etc.
The feeling of luxury in an old setting combined with the quirky touches.
This chalet wouldn’t suit a group of couples unless you didn’t mind the slight lack of privacy in the mezzanine room although the spa room can be used as a double if necessary.
