I adore Sainte Foy, which is a really pretty resort with access to fantastic skiing, and this is a gorgeous luxury ski chalet right in the heart of things and just a short stroll from the slopes. It is available by the room too, which is handy, plus it can be combined with its sister chalet next door, cunningly named The South Face, to create a big party space for up to 20 guests.

The style in this luxury catered chalet is modern mountain chic. The living room, kitchen and dining area occupy the main level and have a lovely contemporary, spacious, and open-plan feel. The living area is the perfect place to relax in the evenings after a hard day of gnarly skiing, with its huge comfy sofas, flat screen TV with UK Freeview plus cosy, crackling log fire.

The adjoining dining area with large dining table is ideal for highly sociable mealtimes and offers the perfect vantage point to watch the chef hard at work creating your yummy evening meals.

This luxury chalet has five gorgeous, properly spacious ensuite bedrooms, most of which have either a private balcony or a walk-in dressing room for useful extra storage.

The North Face is a fully catered ski chalet and there is a professional chef in situ who can rustle up all forms of wonderful creations using good, local ingredients and catering to any special dietary requirements or allergies.

Delicious breakfasts, afternoon tea and cakes, bubbles and canapés, pre-dinner drinks and fabulous four course evening meals with sommelier selected wines are all laid on, with dinner on 6 out of 7 evenings.

There is a bubbling hot tub located on the main level balcony of the chalet with uninterrupted views of Mont Pourri across the valley.

Children are most welcome at The North Face chalet and they get £150 off the full price if aged 7-12, and £200 off if aged 3-6. Infants under 3 years in a cot are free of charge.

Early teas can be arranged, as well as special birthday cakes if the chef is given advance notice, and there are heaps of toys, books and DVDs. There is an extensive children’s DVD library available too through the chalet operator, free of charge to catered clients. Cots are also available as well as high chairs and stair gates if needed for little ones. Private nannies can also be arranged if required.

The resort of Sainte Foy also has an excellent Kids Club, run in collaboration between the lift pass office and ESF ski school. It welcomes children from 3-11 years in a newly refurbished facility in the centre of resort and is open 6 days, Sunday to Friday inclusive, with 1, 3 5 or 6 day childcare options available. It includes a mix of indoor and outdoor activities with snow shoeing, treasure trails, snow games, sledging, crafts, face painting, creative activities and more.

Great location close to slopes, log fire, hot tub with views, and Sainte Foy — all big ticks for me.

Erm, no sauna, but in a way that’s just being picky given the bubbling hot tub.

LOCATION

Ste Foy is a small resort where all accommodation is near the slopes and the main lifts up the mountain. The North Face is just 100m away from the lifts and moments away from the centre of the resort with its lively choice of bars, ski shops and restaurants. It is an excellent ski area in itself, but it is also brilliantly located less than half an hour away from a range of other top resorts, including Val d’Isère, Les Arcs, Tignes and La Rosière, as well as La Thuile in Italy.

GETTING THERE

The nearest airport is Chambery, just 1hr 30mins away. Geneva, Lyon or Grenoble airports are equidistant, all around 2hrs 30mins’ drive. Transfers are not included but the chalet has a fleet of minibuses so they can easily be arranged.

MY TOP TIP

Don’t miss a lunch stop at Les Marquises on the Marquise ski run. Delicious food, really friendly welcome, plus knock-out views. Do book ahead if you are a big group or if it’s a special day because it gets very busy.

GUESTBOOK

“Absolutely wonderful as always. The hostesses were perfect and the food was incredible. The kids loved the chalet too. We liked the proximity of everything and also we have had great experiences with Snocool ski school in the past so it’s a perfect resort for us as a family. A fabulous holiday, we will be back!”

“Just perfect. A wonderful chalet located within a few minutes’ walk from the lift. The chalet host and chef were superb. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The food was incredible and it felt like a home from home (if only our home had those amazing views!). Wish we were still there!”

“Great chalet with simply awesome food! We have visited Sainte Foy many times in the past but decided this year to splash out and go for a catered chalet. I honestly don’t think we could have picked a better option in terms of comfort, service and especially food. The chalet isn’t quite ski-in/ski-out but is only a short walk from the slopes and the chef consistently produced amazing food that I would have been very happy to be served in a decent London restaurant. All-in-all an experience to be thoroughly recommended!”
