I have a thing about renovated farmhouses and this one ticks all the boxes – really comfortable, lots of light and room and sensational views.
An immaculately renovated 350 year old Savoyard Farmhouse which is run by a delightful couple who look after you brilliantly. The bedrooms are roomy and there is plenty of space.
The chalet has 6 ensuite bedrooms, all with super king beds which can be split into twins. One bedroom can have up to 3 single beds on a mezzanine which is perfect for families.
The chalet can either be self catered or catered, according to your wishes, although peak weeks are usually catered. There will be plenty of delicious home cooked food.
There’s an outdoor jacuzzi plus a sauna and in the summer there’s an above ground pool. To ease your aching limbs revitalising massage and reflexology can be arranged.
The chalet has lots for children – there’s a TV and games area with books, DVDs and games. Meals at different times can be arranged.
The double height ceiling in the open plan living and dining area give a wonderful feeling of space.
This chalet would not work if you are look for a sleek contemporary experience or party central.
LOCATION
The chalet is in a little hamlet called Mathonex which is a 5 minute drive to the centre of Samoens and a 10 minute drive to any of the 3 main gondolas for the Samoens and Morillon ski stations.
GETTING THERE
Geneva airport is just 1 hour away from Samoens. The chalet can organise transfers, at extra cost.

There’s a chalet minibus which will transport you to and from the slopes which is included in the price.
MY TOP TIP
Don’t miss the fabulous Cascades ski run from Flaine to Sixt. It is the longest blue run in Europe at 14km. Half way down there is a phone booth where you call the restaurant Lac du Gers — they pick you up on skidoos to take you to lunch!
