“This was a wonderful place and we received the best support from the hosts. The chalet had every ammenity and felt very much like a home away from home. Very easy access to everything local. If you’re looking for a large ski chalet in Chamonix, this is highly recommended!”

The Les Houches end of the Chamonix valley is prettier and less challenging than up by Grand Montets or Le Tour, and this lovely ski chalet sits in a little hamlet just five minutes from Les Houches. It is also really close to the centre of town, making shopping and extensive après-ing very easy. A real gem.
This luxury Chamonix chalet is bright, spacious, contemporary, and put together with love. It is also extremely comfortable and has a real home from home feel — unsurprisingly, given that it is the operator’s home through the summer so is appointed with every possible creature comfort and amenity. It is also decorated not just to serve a purpose but with love and thought, and is beautifully stylish (the owner is an interiors photographer so loves all things interior!).
Chalet Sous les Bois has five large en suite bedrooms. They are all slightly different in style but all have baths and showers so there’s never any fighting over the best room! The chalet provides L’Occitane and Molton Brown toiletries, as well as all linen and towels, but they don’t provide slippers or dressing gowns.
The chalet is primarily a self-catered chalet, but they can hire in a professional chef if a client requires catering. You can discuss the menu with the chef to check it suits your requirements/tastes. The cost is approximately £3,300 for the week.
There is a seven-man hot tub and this luxury ski chalet will also be getting a barrel sauna for the garden for winter 2017/18.
Chalet Sous les Bois is very child-friendly. There is an extremely large living area, one side of which is dedicated to lounging in front of the fire or watching a film, the other side of which features a bar (with a beer keg), a pool table and a chill-out/reading area. There is also a big, safe garden away from any road and a private drive-way, plus piles of books and board games, a tv and dvd player, sunken trampoline in summer, high chairs, cots, toys for younger children, as well as the pool table for teenagers. This luxury chalet has lots of space so kids and adults can be together but not on top of each other.
The superb, enormous lounge, the beer keg, and the views of Mont Blanc.
The fact that an in-resort driver service is not included, but the ski bus stops close by or you can drive and park outside the chalet easily. A driving service can be arranged by the chalet at an additional cost, however, if you require it.

Visit Chamonix town – it’s exceptionally pretty and there’s heaps of good shops, bars and restaurants to enjoy. Also, go up the vertiginous Aiguille du Midi cable car to get a closer look at Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest mountain. Chamonix has some of the most spectacular views in the French Alps and this is the spot to get the best!
“A truly stunning ski chalet – better than the pictures, if that’s possible! Delicious hot fires – great living room and five minutes to the slopes – couldn’t have been more perfect. Bathrooms of an exceptionally high standard and comfy beds – great room for ski gear and a hot jacuzzi for sore legs. Thank you for the most wonderful long weekend.”
“This place is wonderful! We had a great stay for a couple of days….we wanted to stay longer! Well laid-out, lovely decor, and very homely… we loved the little touches with the soaps and bottle of wine in the kitchen. Charlotte was a great host, friendly and very helpful. Thanks again!”
“Our experience of this luxury ski chalet exceeded our expectations, even after reading all the positive reviews. It was spacious, clean, very comfortable, warm and had all the amenities we could need. All rooms were big, each with its own bathroom, and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was large and had all the cooking utensils we required. The chalet had great living rooms, especially on the highest floor – it was super cosy with lots of books, games and dvds! The owner greeted us upon arriving and gave us a chalet manual with everything we needed to know – from electricity to taxis, food delivery and activities in the area. Highly recommended!”
