Food is a thing that is dear to my heart, and Chalet Samoens is the perfect chalet for similar food-lovers, placing great emphasis on delivering fabulous cuisine. This luxury ski chalet is also located in pretty Samoens itself, an award-winning medieval village in the Grand Massif. Big ticks all round.

Modern mountain chic. Think gleaming, clean lines, contemporary designer fireplace, spacious bedrooms. No clutter or chintz anywhere in this beautiful Samoens chalet.

There are six beautiful en suite double bedrooms in this luxury ski chalet, two of which have extra space with two extra single beds, and one of which has an extra single. All have showers and there is a separate bathroom with a bath. Bedrooms 3 and 4 have balconies too. All rooms are roughly the same size although the larger rooms have more space to fit the single beds. Quintessentially English bathroom toiletries and gowns are supplied.

Chalet Samoens is part of a collection of catered ski chalets owned by a former chef of 3 Michelin star The Fat Duck restaurant. As a result, food and drink is the chalet’s big thing. Its chef has heaps of experience in top restaurants back in the UK and the chalet champions the very best local produce.

Breakfast comes with a daily hot special, afternoon tea includes yummy freshly baked cakes, and dinner consists of a four-course feast. Four whites and four red wines accompany the impeccable evening meals, together with a choice of complimentary soft drinks.

The food, and the Samoens location.

This luxury ski chalet has an indoor hot tub and sauna in a big, wet room area.

The chalet accepts children and separate teas can be provided, but it is probably more of an adult-friendly zone, with the emphasis on fine food and wine

The lack of baths in the bedrooms, but then there is a hot tub. And a sauna.

MY TOP TIP

Don’t miss the fabulous Cascades ski run from Flaine to Sixt. It is the longest blue run in Europe at 14km. Half way down there is a phone booth where you call the restaurant Lac du Gers — they pick you up on skidoos to take you to lunch!

GUESTBOOK

“Upon arrival it was clear to see that this chalet was definitely a notch above the rest. Simple things that make such a difference such as comfortable beds, good showers and toiletries (not to mention decent wine glasses!) which are so easy to include but so often overlooked…not the case with this chalet! Everything was of really good quality and the chalet itself was very well appointed and spacious throughout. I don’t often return to the same place twice, purely as there are so many different places to visit. Chalet Samoens, however, is different and I’d certainly look them up again for the next ski trip.”

“Our party of 13 was impressed as soon as they entered the living room with its open-plan kitchen area and a dining table prepared with freshly made tea and cakes. We were given a warm welcome by our hosts whose culinary skills were awesome all week. The 2 bedrooms downstairs were fab and had wet rooms with two power showers. The 4 rooms upstairs did not disappoint either, all with modern ensuites with shower cubicles There was a separate bathroom if anyone in the chalet wanted a bath. The hot tub and sauna were a welcome luxury, especially after a day’s skiing!”

“The chalet was beautiful, with every detail well thought-out, including British TV channels, free wifi and excellent wine. The location is great, with shops, bars and restaurants only steps away. The absolute highlight were our fabulous hosts’ super-delicious food. Nothing was too much trouble.”
