Sleek and sparkly new chalet in ancient St Martin
Low season: £695pp catered; Mid: Peak: £1400pp
St Martin de Belleville, Trois Vallées
Sleeps: 10-11
Chalet Polaris is a spanking brand new chalet in the heart of the ancient part of St Martin de Belleville. It represents excellent value for money with a fab location — and lots of fur throws. What’s not to love!
Modern mountain chic – Polaris is a brand new chalet but it’s right in the old quarter of St Martin so combines the ancient with the modern. Think leather sofas, sheepskin rugs and cowhides, together with a Swedish log burner and lovely views.
There are five in total, all en-suite — four with showers, one with a bath. There are yummy Cowshed toiletries, and slippers and dressing gowns are supplied. All rooms are large – in fact, all but one can take a cot, and one room has a third ‘proper’ bed slightly separate from the rest of the room.
Polaris, like its sister chalets, is seriously foodie. Founded on the owner’s chef background, it really prides itself on delicious food but presented in an unpretentious, relaxed atmosphere. The cuisine is of a standard more frequently found in far more expensive chalets.
Nothing spa-y, unfortunately.
The chalet is properly child-friendly. There are board games and DVDs specially for kids. No alternative space for young ones to hang out, however, apart from the garage where there is table football.
The chalet’s gorgeous newness and its plum location.
The lack of spa facilities.
LOCATION
Chalet Polaris is located right beside sister chalet De la Lune. It is just 80m to the village drag lift. There are stunning views over the roofs down valley, and it is tucked away in ‘old St Martin’.

Remember, I have visited all the chalets we feature so can give you totally unbiased, independent advice on all of them. The prices I quote are also the list prices quoted by the chalets themselves, so there is no advantage in going to the chalets direct.
