Even before we arrived in Zermatt, because of our initial communications with the concierge, we were confident that we were about to have a terrific vacation. He was exceptionally helpful and eager to accommodate all of our requests. The chalet itself is delightfully comfortable, incredibly clean and perfect for a ski vacation. We loved the location in Winkelmatten, which is a quiet area, with easy access to the gondola. And to top it off we had magnificent views of the Matterhorn. We have only the highest praises for our chef and house manager. Our experience at the chalet far exceeded our expectations. We spent our trip home, trying to figure out when we can return again. Bravo!
Bright, contemporary ski chalet in excellent location

Zermatt
Sleeps: 8/9
Zermatt has to be one of the very best ski resorts in the world, but because of that — and because it is in Switzerland — it can be very pricey. Chalet Binna is a rare thing: a lovely, luxury chalet in a great location, in Zermatt, that is not eye-wateringly expensive.
This luxury ski chalet is beautifully modern and bright. The large sitting/dining room has an atmospheric central fireplace and a TV corner, and there is a contemporary, fully equipped kitchen which sits discreetly off the dining area. There is a terrace with a fabulous view of Zermatt’s iconic peak, the Matterhorn.
Access to the chalet has been specifically designed to allow for guests with limited mobility, with ramp access to the front door and a private internal lift between floors, as well as the stairs.
This Zermatt chalet has four bedrooms, each with its own bath and/or shower and WC. Three of the rooms are twin/doubles (2 x shower, 1 bath) whilst the fourth is set out as a kids’ room and has three bunks (shower). One of the twin/doubles has wheelchair/disabled facilities (wetroom/shower).
Luxury toiletries, dressing gowns and slippers are all provided. The bedrooms and main sitting room also have cable TV whilst the chalet has its own wifi network. All bathrooms/showers have hairdryers and there are safes in all the bedrooms.
Chalet Binna is a fully catered ski chalet and its philosophy towards food is total flexibility. Anything can be whipped up, depending on client tastes, but the predominant theme of the cooking is European modern. Breakfasts come with modern touches (smoothies, fresh made juices) as well as cooked options, and dinner consists of four courses served with quality Swiss house wines , bottled table water and a big selection of soft drinks.
For Winter 2016/7, the standard catering includes evening meals on just four nights, enabling guests to take advantage of Zermatt’s unparalleled choice of restaurants or to just have a simple pizza if they have indulged on the mountain for lunch (which is easily done!). In peak weeks, however, dinners are included on six nights.
The chalet has a “wellness” area with sauna, shower and relaxation area, and there is a large hot tub on the terrace which looks right up at the Matterhorn itself.
The separate TV corner works well to corral the kids away from the main living area in this luxury chalet. There are child safety gates on the staircases.
The modern spaciousness, light and views of the Matterhorn. The perfect Zermatt chalet.
The chalet is not right in the centre of Zermatt — it is 15 minutes away, but there is a bus stop just 30m from the chalet.
LOCATION
Chalet Binna is in the quiet Winkelmatten area of Zermatt. It is just a seven minute walk down to the Matterhorn Express bubble and it is 15 mins on foot to the village centre, with a bus stop only 30m away. For much of the season, you can ski back to within 100m of the chalet.
GETTING THERE
Guests are picked up from Zermatt railway station by taxi (included in the price). The chalet can also organize airport transfers by taxi or rail from Geneva, Basel, Zurich or even Milano (by taxi only). Each airport is about 3—4 hrs away depending on whether you arrive by train or taxi.

Don’t miss lunch at Chez Vrony — one of my favourite mountain restaurants in the Alps. Gorgeous surrounds, fabulous food, and a knock-out view of the Matterhorn from the terrace.
The chalet exceeded our expectations. It was spacious and modern with a Swiss chalet feel. The location was perfect, away from the busy main Zermatt area but within 5 minute walking distance to the ski lift or the bus which stopped almost outside the front door. The balcony had a great spot to sit and watch the sun set over the Matterhorn. The staff were extremely helpful and professional and we are looking forward to heading back to Zermatt.

Remember, I have visited all the chalets we feature so can give you totally unbiased, independent advice on all of them. The prices I quote are also the list prices quoted by the chalets themselves, so there is no advantage in going to the chalets direct.
