Baby Bear is one of the loveliest smaller ski chalets I have stayed in. It is the adorable sister chalet to Amazon Creek and Baloo, sharing a leafy enclave just outside Chamonix with both of them.
It is the ideal hideaway chalet and is perfectly formed with gorgeous interior design plus a cosy wood burning stove.
Gorgeous, opulent, Alpine chic. Think skins and furs, designer chairs, lots of stained wood and leather, plus red rugs and cushions – red being the signature colour for all the chalets.
Baby Bear is small but it is a perfectly formed luxury ski chalet, with two en-suite bedrooms and a third with separate shower room. There are DVD players in each, plus individual controlled heating, while each is also beautifully designed, continuing the Alpine chic theme, and really spacious. New for winter 2015/16 is an extra basement level with the 3rd bedroom, a cinema room, sauna and kitchenette. Floorplan to follow for new level.
Baby Bear can be booked as a catered chalet or a self-catered chalet, so is very flexible. The self-catered offering includes a daily delivery of fresh breads and pastries, a welcome hamper pack with a bottle of Champagne, wine, cheese, charcuteries and other essentials. The catered option includes Champagne and canapés on arrival evening, plus a private chef to cook daily breakfast, afternoon tea and four-course evening meal on six nights including selected house wines, beer and soft drinks.
This ski chalet has a lovely private outdoor hot tub with views of the surrounding woods and a sauna.
The chalet works with a top nanny service so can arrange English-speaking nannies or even Russian-speaking if requested. The chalet is also kitted out with children’s DVDs and toys, as well as kiddie paraphernalia such as high chairs, cots and even kids’ cutlery. There are also PlayStations in the chalet, and lots of lovely nooks and crannies in the eaves of the building for children to hide away and play in.
The gorgeous sense of seclusion, being tucked away in your very own private mountain hideaway.
The chalet is just on the Les Houches side of Chamonix so it is a little distance from the top end of the valley — Le Tour and Grands Montets. But it has in-resort transport which will whisk you to whichever ski area you would like.
LOCATION
This Chamonix chalet is located alongside its sister chalets in Les Bossons, a leafy little village on the Les Houches side of Chamonix, just five minutes’ drive from the town itself and five minutes from Les Houches by a winding back route. Mont Blanc looms so close you feel you could reach out and touch it.

Geneva is less than an hour away, and the chalet includes transfers with a private transfer company in the price.
